Sitapur: A special felicitation ceremony was organised at JLMDJ Inter College, Khairabad, on Wednesday to honour meritorious student Shyam Prakash for his outstanding performance in English in the 2026-27 High School Board examinations.
Shyam Prakash, a resident of Govinda Sarai, Dharaincha Bazaar, Khairabad, secured the highest score of 85 marks in English at the college. In memory of former college lecturer Girish Chandra Mishra, his wife Usha Mishra and son Ashish Mishra ‘Geetu’ presented Shyam Prakash with a cash award of ₹5,000 and a certificate of appreciation.

The guests also encouraged his parents, Shiv Bhagwan and Parvati, and praised the student’s hard work and achievement. They urged him to continue striving for excellence in his studies.

Speaking at the event, Usha Mishra said India’s young population and its talented youth were becoming the country’s defining strength. She recalled that her late husband had devoted his life to education and worked to support underprivileged students.
Ashish Mishra said his father was honoured with the Panchjanya Nachiketa Award by former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on March 23, 2001. Girish Chandra Mishra also served as an English lecturer at DJ College, Khairabad, from 1959 to 1988.
